Habitat assisted Wakool Shire Council with the construction of a boardwalk and upgrade of a water intake structure on the banks of the Murray River at Barham.

The proposal involved the construction of a new 165 metre long timber boardwalk at the Murray River adjoining Riverside Park, and an associated timber water intake structure. Habitat prepared a Review of Environmental Factors on behalf of Council which included an assessment of all matters affecting, or likely to affect, the environment as a result of the proposed development. The assessment was required to consider the potential impact on established river bank conditions, native vegetation and aquatic species.

The project represents a major improvement to the public domain and riverside precinct of Barham, connecting the CBD with the Murray River Foreshore.
