A continued commitment to regional communities — Habitat Planning marks 30 years in business

This year marks 30 years of Habitat Planning.

Founded in 1996 by Warwick Horsfall, the consultancy was built on a simple idea; that regional communities deserve access to high-quality planning services. It’s a vision that continues to underpin our work today.

This milestone also marks 15 years under the directorship of David Hunter. Over that time, and broadly across three decades, we’ve had the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of projects throughout the regions. From residential developments and community infrastructure through to education, health, hospitality and industrial projects, each project plays an important role in shaping how our communities grow, function and support the people who live there.

What has always set Habitat apart is its connection to place. Our team lives and works in the communities we serve. We understand regional life firsthand — the beauty and the wide-open spaces, and the opportunities and its quirks, because it’s our way of life, too. That brings a genuine level of care and responsibility to every project, along with a personable and practical approach to helping our clients achieve their development goals, for projects of various scale.

In recent years, we’ve grown beyond our beginnings in Albury to establish a presence in each Wagga Wagga, Echuca and Canberra, building locally based teams to better support these expanding regions. Guided by a deliberate growth strategy, this expansion has been driven by increasing demand for thoughtful, purpose-led planning, alongside a clear understanding of the value in being genuinely embedded within the communities we work alongside.

We’re incredibly grateful to our clients and our generous project partners and team, past and present, who have been part of the Habitat story so far. It’s a milestone we’re particularly proud of, and one that reflects the shared contributions of many throughout the years.

The future is bright — here’s to the next 30!
